Winning hearts and minds

Michael Hastings, who writes for the Rolling Stone, has uncovered yet another all-too-familiar story these days, in which U.S. Army Lt. Gen. William Caldwell ordered a team of soldiers specializing in psychological operations to target influential members of the U.S. government, including prominent members of Congress and other officials that met with him, in an effort to secure more funding and troops for the fraudulent war in Afghanistan.  As we know, the war in Afghanistan was initiated based on the false flag attack of 9/11, and has resulted in countless deaths, human rights violations, and other horrible atrocities.  Hastings' aptly titled article "Another Runaway General: Army Deploys Psy-Ops on U.S. Senators," begins this way (bold mine):
The U.S. Army illegally ordered a team of soldiers specializing in "psychological operations" to manipulate visiting American senators into providing more troops and funding for the war, Rolling Stone has learned-- and when an officer tried to stop the operation, he was railroaded by military investigators.
The orders came from the command of Lt. Gen. William Caldwell, a three-star general in charge of training Afghan troops-- the linchpin of U.S. strategy in the war.  Over a four-month period last year, a military cell devoted to what is known as "information operations" at Camp Eggers in Kabul was repeatedly pressured to target visiting senators and other VIPs who met with Caldwell.  When the unit resisted the order, arguing that it violated U.S. laws prohibiting the use of propaganda against American citizens, it was subjected to a campaign of retaliation.
"My job in psy-ops is to play with people's heads, to get the enemy to behave the way we want them to behave," says Lt. Colonel Michael Holmes, the leader of the IO unit, who received an official reprimand after bucking orders.  "I'm prohibited from doing that to our own people.  When you ask me to try to use these skills on senators and congressman, you're crossing a line."
Alex Pareene at Salon offers his take on this story, and the New York Times reports today that U.S. General David Petraeus will order an investigation into the matter.

It seems rather obvious that the U.S. military would want to influence the people who provide the funding, cover, and justification to the public for their continued operations overseas, but to my knowledge the folks they are trying to manipulate using their infamous psy-ops tactics are already on board with their agenda.  Indeed, as the Times article linked above quotes one of those targeted individuals, Senator Carl Levin, as saying, "I have never needed any convincing on this point.  Quite the opposite, my efforts have been aimed at convincing others of the need for larger, more capable Afghan security forces."

So, if virtually everyone is already on board, especially those in the most influential positions, when it comes to the fraudulent, illegal, and immoral wars against the Muslim world, why the psy-ops?  Why risk being exposed for this blunder, when your agenda is virtually locked up?  Could it be because it doesn't matter if the military commanders that ordered this illegal activity are exposed, as the rule of law in the U.S. does not apply to the upper echelons of the political, economic, and military establishment?

It appears that most members of Congress, including the recently elected "fiscally conservative" Republican Senators-- always worried about balancing the budget and reducing the deficit-- are in favor of the war policies being prosecuted, and even expanded, under the Obama administration  The seemingly never-ending war in Afghanistan will be continuing until 2014, at least, and in all likelihood even beyond that date.

As the U.S. government continues to spend enormous amounts of money on things like this and this, and squanders even more on ridiculous things like this, causing destruction, mayhem and death on an unimaginable scale, unleashing sheer evil on innocent people around the world, I have to wonder when the madness will stop.  When will decent, honest, respectable people refuse to accept the propaganda, the lies, and distortions thrown at them by their elected officials and media?  When will the people have the courage to stand against this anti-human, anti-freedom agenda?

  1. Anything coming out of Rolling Stone will not be telling us the entire story. This seems to be a psy-op in itself. When the MSM like Chris Matthews starts throwing out the words brainwashing and Manchurian Candidate it appears to be an attempt to portray these senators as not bought and blackmailed. Which of course they are.

  2. Hmmm.....interesting Kenny. Never thought of it that way. The Rolling Stone and Michael Hastings are never going to give us the whole story, that's for sure.
